This guide walks you through installing a custom .saver
file to change your Mac's screensaver, using the file downloaded from a link or received via email after purchasing from quismi.
Step 1: Get the .saver file
Download the .dmg
file containing the .saver
file to your Downloads folder.
Step 2: Open the .dmg file
Find the .dmg
file in your Downloads folder and double-click it to open it.
A new window will appear showing the .saver
file and a How to Install.pdf
with more detailed instructions.
Step 3: Install the .saver file
Double-click the .saver
file. System Settings will open to the Screen Saver section, asking if you want to install it for just you or all users. Choose "Install" (for you) or enter admin credentials for all users. Click "Install" to proceed.
Step 4: Bypass security if needed
If macOS blocks the file ("... cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified."), go to System Settings > Security & Privacy. Find the blocked file under the General tab and click "Open Anyway." Then double-click the .saver
again to install.
Step 5: Set your new screensaver
In System Settings > Screen Saver, find your new screensaver in the list. Click it to preview, then select it to set it as active. Adjust settings like idle time under "Start after".
